Course Contents

IATA’s DGR will be used as reference material for the course. Additional reading
material will be provided by DGM as course hand-outs.

The course content therefore draws upon from the structure of the IATA DGR Manual
and will consist of the following topics:-

  • Introduction to the Dangerous Goods and fundamental principle for its safe transportation by air
  • National and International regulation governing the transport of dangerous goods by air
  • Applicability of the Regulation, shipper’s and operator’s responsibilities with respect to transport of dangerous goods and training requirements.
  • Basic understanding of Identification (UN Number, Proper shipping name) and classification of dangerous goods in terms of their hazard class (primary and subsidiary hazard) and Packing group
  • Dangerous goods list, forbidden dangerous goods, exempted dangerous goods and dangerous goods needing approval.
  • Packing and packaging specification- an idea
  • Marking & Labelling requirement as well as documentation
  • Operator Variation
  • Acceptance and handling requirements

Course Guidelines and Protocol

  • Passing percentage set at 80%.
  • Marks will not be disclosed.
  • No provision for re-evaluation.
  • Results announced after 7 working days.
